LAGOS. The leadership and entire membership of the Coalition of Southern Youth Progressives Forum (CSYPF) have received with profound sadness and heartfelt sympathy the news of the passing of the beloved mother of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State, former Honourable Minister of Transportation, and a distinguished national leader, and the ADC Vice Presidential Candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
According to the group, the painful loss has touched not only the Amaechi family but also countless friends, associates, admirers and well-wishers across Nigeria who recognise the immeasurable role mothers play in nurturing visionary leaders and building strong families.
In a press release made available to newsmen in Lagos on behalf of the leadership and its members across the country, the CSYPF extended their deepest condolences to Rt. Hon. Amaechi, and the entire Amaechi family, as well as the people of Rivers State, during what they described as difficult period of grief.
The National President of CSYPF, Comrade Dr. Dozie Nwankodu, described the late matriarch as a woman whose enduring values, sacrifices, prayers and motherly guidance undoubtedly contributed to raising one of Nigeria’s most experienced and accomplished public servants.
According to him:
“A mother’s place in the life of every child is irreplaceable. Regardless of one’s age, achievements or public status, the passing of a mother leaves a vacuum that words can scarcely fill.
“We therefore mourn with His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and pray that Almighty God grants him and the entire family the strength, comfort and grace to bear this painful loss.”
He added, “As a coalition that proudly stood with His Excellency during his 2023 presidential aspiration and remains committed to supporting progressive leadership and national development, especially as he is the Vice Presidential flag-bearer of the ADC in the forthcoming 2027 Presidential Election, we share in this moment of mourning. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and all those affected. We pray that the soul of the departed matriarch, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah finds eternal rest in the bosom of the Almighty.”
Also speaking, the National Secretary of CSYPF, Hon. Aderogba Hassan, noted that while death is an inevitable passage of life, the memories of a virtuous mother continue to inspire generations.
He stated:
“The pain of losing a beloved mother is one of life’s greatest emotional burdens. Yet, we are comforted by the belief that a life devoted to family, love and service leaves behind a legacy that time can never erase.
“We encourage His Excellency and every member of the Amaechi family to draw strength from the remarkable life she lived and the countless lives she positively influenced.”
He further said, “On behalf of the entire CSYPF family, we pray that God grants the departed eternal peace and gives the bereaved family divine comfort, courage and fortitude to overcome this difficult moment.
“May cherished memories of her continue to remain a source of strength and inspiration.”
“CSYPF joins millions of Nigerians in mourning this great loss and prays that the Almighty grants the deceased eternal rest while comforting everyone she left behind.
“May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen”.
